I get different reactions from people when I tell them I’ve never been to J. Alexander’s. Some are absolutely amazed, while others just ask why. There’s a simple answer. With the plethora of restaurants at Hamilton Place, as well as the growth of eateries downtown and around the Southside over the past decade, some restaurants just slip by the wayside. Such was the case with J. Alexander’s. That is until recently when I decided I could wait no longer to try one of the most popular restaurants in the Hamilton Place area.

THE MENU
American classics take up most of the space on the menu. From steaks and prime rib to crab cakes, salmon, fried shrimp and chicken dishes, there are enough choices to satisfy most every palate.
The menu really never changes, but if you do want something different, take a look at the specials on a small menu at the table. Those change weekly, according to our server, and might feature barbecue chicken and other seldom-seen favorites.
