State officials are reviewing training hours completed by Hamilton County planning commissioners after receiving complaints from county residents.

Residents concerned with the county’s growth lodged complaints based on public records that appear to show some commissioners didn’t meet state requirements in 2023 and 2024.

As of this week, around 60 complaints about the Hamilton County board were sent to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, spokesperson Lindsey Tipton said.

Cathy Faulkner, who lives in the Harrison area, said she requested the records after seeing former head planner Dan Reuter allege the commission wasn’t meeting training requirements.

Reuter resigned in July after an internal investigation into his behavior at work, and he made the allegations in a letter published about a month later.
