A specialty chemical maker that moved its headquarters to Chattanooga almost six years ago has traded hands from one private equity firm to another.

Windjammer Capital, which is based in Newport Beach, California, and Waltham, Massachusetts, recently acquired the company from Denver-based Platte River Equity. MFG Chemical serves customers in water treatment, industrial coatings, oil and gas, pulp and paper, personal care, mining, metal working and agriculture.

“We are excited to partner with Windjammer as we build on MFG’s more than four decades of history,” Paul Turgeon, CEO of MFG Chemical, said in a press release. “Windjammer’s experience scaling industrial manufacturing businesses and their collaborative approach make them an ideal partner as we continue to invest in our people, expand our capabilities and serve our customers.”
