Poll workers ensure fair elections; go vote

I have been the officer of elections in my precinct for close to 20 years. Before that I was a poll worker doing other jobs for about 10 years. Throughout those years I have worked closely with Democrats and Republicans on Election Day. We make it possible for people to vote in a fair election.

I resent the accusations that elections are rigged. Poll workers work very hard. We do not leave the polling place until the polls close and all paperwork is completed. We make sure that people who registered in Hamilton County and have proper identification get to vote. We do not cheat!

We see people in wheelchairs, on walkers, using canes, can’t see, etc. Do you know how difficult it is to get to the polls for these folks? One example is a 93-year-old lady who rode the bus to our polling place, only to find she could not vote because she didn’t have a photo ID. Fifteen minutes before the polls were to close, here she comes. She found someone to take her to get a photo ID and bring her to vote.

Make no excuse not to vote.
