A Red Bank police officer resigned after having crashed three vehicles, one of them totaled in a four-car chain reaction. The officer was let go after reporting for duty drunk one morning.
The officer told the Chattanooga Times Free Press he was driven to drinking, in part, after he was unfairly scrutinized by a sergeant whose orders he didn’t agree with.
City Manager Martin Granum and Police Chief Dan Seymour said by email that the two had confidence in the department’s front-line supervisors.
“It’s just unfortunate that his career has ended with us,” Granum said by phone. “I feel bad for him, but we have to do what we have to do as an employer and as an agency.”
