An acre of land burning at Stringers Ridge Park drew crews from the Chattanooga Fire Department and Tennessee Division of Forestry on Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday.
Challenging terrain in the area made for a long fight, but as of 6 a.m. Thursday, the fire was under control, according to a press release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Because of the nature of the terrain, after starting fire breaks with leaf blowers, the firefighters used handlines to surround the fire, the release said.
The Fire Department said there will be smoldering and smoke in the area for an extended period of time, a normal outcome after a wildfire.
