Although the numerous championship awards and plaques earned by Chattanooga-area athletes, coaches and teams during the 2025-26 school year have likely found a spot in the appropriate trophy case by now, we’re not quite finished with making memories.
Before preparing for a new season, the Times Free Press will celebrate one of the area’s most impressive collection of high school sports accomplishments in recent years at the annual Best of Preps banquet. The long-standing event, set for June 25, will be held at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium for a second straight year. Doors open at 6 p.m.
A total of 24 awards will be handed out, headlined by the male and female Scrappy Moore athletes of the year as well as overall coach of the year, plus players of the year for 17 sports, an academic athlete of the year and three awards recognizing those who contributed to the spirit of the game.
Any athlete who earned a spot on a Best of Preps all-star team during the past school year will receive a complimentary ticket and can do so by visiting bestofprepschatt.com. Information for anyone who wants to purchase tickets is available at the same site.
Also for a second consecutive year, a Best of Preps alum will serve as guest speaker as former North Murray High School multisport athlete Ladd McConkey, who went on to become a standout receiver at the University of Georgia and was rated as one of the NFL’s top 100 players last year, will headline the event.
