The Tennessee Valley Authority changed the date of its quarterly board meeting from May 22 to May 21, consolidating it with a public comment session that usually takes place the day before the meeting.
TVA made the last-minute change to align the agency’s schedule with the personal schedule of CEO Mike Skaggs, who returned to the utility in April from retirement to serve on an interim basis, spokesperson Melissa Greene said.
The board of directors will meet in Guntersville, Alabama, where the local utility buys wholesale electricity from TVA, the nation’s largest government-owned power provider. The meeting was initially scheduled for the Friday before Memorial Day.
“We’re also aware it’s a holiday weekend, and we don’t want to keep people tied up there, either,” Greene said in a phone call.
