LISA DENTON: Barry, I’ve been waiting for this night since I first saw that “Down With Crestor” commercial set to War’s “Low Rider” song. Have you seen it? It shows a woman leaving her doctor’s office with good news about her cholesterol, and I mean she struts.
In the commercial, nobody gives her a second glance for that tight sashay, but in real life it does cause some double takes. But I figure I’ll fit right in at tonight’s Bessie Smith Strut. I’ll be twirling and high-fiving all the way up and down M.L. King Boulevard.
BARRY COURTER: It is Day Four of Riverbend, and the Strut takes center stage. I’ve seen you strut, and people on both sides of the street need to be on the lookout. We should remind everyone that it is a gated and ticketed event, and everyone will need to pay the $10 admission. Last year, your wristband got you in. It was too confusing and caused delays, so the change was made.
LISA: Music starts at 5:45 p.m. on the Champy’s Chicken Stage and at 6 p.m. outside Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Then it’s back to the riverfront for Faith and Family Night on Tuesday.
