* What: Gregg Allman* When: 9:30 tonight* Where: Coca-Cola Stage* Admission: One-day wristband ($25)
The Allman Brothers Band is no more, but there is still plenty of good news for ABB fans, especially tonight at Riverbend.
Patriarch Gregg Allman is headlining the Coke Stage, but former ABB mates, percussionist Jai Johnny “Jaimoe” Johnson and guitarist Jack Pearson will be performing as well at the festival. While they are performing with their own bands and there is no guarantee, there is a strong chance the two will make their way over to jam with their former boss.
Jaimoe is now fronting Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and will be on the Bud Light Stage at 6 p.m. while Pearson will perform on the Unum Stage at 8 p.m. with Jonell Mosser. Jaimoe is a founding member of the Allman Brothers, while Pearson played guitar for the band from 1997-99.
Allman, meanwhile, is touring with his own band, doing material from his 40-year-long solo career and some material from the Allman Brothers.
Whether the mini-reunion happens or not, it will be a good night of Southern rock.
