Drone attacks akin to terror attacks
One of the truths about those who wage war is that they tend to adopt the characteristics of their opponents.
Hence how ironic and tragic it was that on the same day that terrorists mounted a series of unbelievable attacks in Paris, the Obama administration unleashed another drone in the name of our nation to destroy “Jihadi John” and any around him in the same unspeakable way he beheaded his enemies.
Except that he personally carried out his killings; in the unmanned drone case, someone thousands of miles away pushed the button and remained unstained by blood.
Such killings have become so usual and accepted that I don’t look for any expressions of concern, any editorials rebuking the president for his drone policies, any “rants,” any examinations of the morality of such deeds carried on by alleged civilized Christian people.
Instead we slide further down the slope of horror where we can warmly greet those who came first to grease it for us.

Liberals have blood on their hands
To Obama, any liberal Democrat and people who think they can engineer society to create a world of peace and harmony: You have blood on your hands.
How? Unrestricted immigration. Not blaming Islamic terrorists for Islamic terrorism. Blaming workplace violence or saying it’s an isolated incident. Blaming weak gun laws.
Ask the people of France how all of that is working for them.

Bennett cartoon on Carson not a reader favorite
I have been reading your newspaper since my voting district changed after the last census. That has given me sufficient time to get acquainted with the style and intent of your dual editorial practice.
I would like to make a suggestion I believe would significantly increase your newspaper’s circulation and readership. I think you should change the name of your newspaper from the Chattanooga Times Free Press to the Chattanooga Tabloid Times Free Press.
I came to this conclusion after seeing Mr. Bennett’s political cartoon recently questioning the honor and integrity of a man of Dr. Ben Carson’s stature. Surely, there’s got to be something Mr. Bennett can do to make his own life’s work more genuine, and thus gratifying.

Have Americans lost their compassion?
The headlines read “Governors move to keep Syrian refugees out” and the television airs sound bites of “Trojan Horse” and “not even a 5-year-old orphan” should be allowed refuge here.
In our comfortable lives, have we become so removed from hardship and suffering that we deliberately turn away from those in need?
In times of crisis, the compassionate give of themselves. We all know these people. They are our heroes who act selflessly and make sacrifices regardless of consequence and simply reply, “Because you would have done the same for me.”
What do our actions say, as we watch those around us tread water from the safety of our lifeboat and rationalize how our lives matter more?
