Bradley County Sheriff-elect Jim Ruth announced his top command staff Thursday.
The chief deputy will be Wayne Bird, who comes to the department from the Groveland, Fla., Police Department, where he was a special investigator. He has more than 30 years of law enforcement and administration experience, Ruth announced.
Bird has served law enforcement in many capacities, including organized crime and drug trafficking in investigations that reached into other Southeastern states, Ruth said, and will be an asset for new programs the new sheriff plans to implement.
Ruth also announced the captains who will lead the department’s divisions.
Tom Wasson will be Patrol Division captain. His 21-year law enforcement career includes stints at the Cleveland Police Department and the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
