Four football players took official visits to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this weekend. Three of those committed to the Mocs before heading home and a fourth player, after visiting Murray State, told Mocs coaches Sunday that he was committing to UTC.
The four-player haul brings the Mocs’ total of known commitments to 15. In the group are two safeties, a defensive lineman and UTC’s first wide receiver commitment.
The commitment of Xavier Borishade from North Cobb (Ga.) High School addresses a position of need for the Mocs. Last season, UTC’s top two receivers were part-time quarterback/wideout Terrell Robinson (40 receptions) and tight end Faysal Shafaat (37 receptions).
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Borishade had 42 catches and 10 receiving touchdowns last season, earning a spot on the Marietta Daily Journal’s All-Cobb County team. Borishade also returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns.
“[UTC coaches] said they wanted to use me like as a speed back and in the slot, so I’ll have a lot of one-on-ones with a linebacker,” he said, describing a role similar to current Moc Marquis Green.
