Hurricanes, Owls roll in Best of Preps consolation bracket

Rodney English didn’t have his East Hamilton boys’ basketball team run during practice Sunday.

The Hurricanes ran Monday during a game, resulting in a 76-62 win over Arts & Sciences in a consolation-bracket semifinal of the Best of Preps tournament at Chattanooga State.

They pressured the Patriots up and down the floor every minute, resulting in Patriots turnovers and easy baskets for the Hurricanes, including a ferocious one-hand dunk by Matt Wingard.

“We met at the school before the game and we said that we wanted to simplify things and play East Hamilton basketball,” said English, whose team forced 16 turnovers. “We wanted to speed them up, get out and run, attack, be aggressive on defense, and we did that.”
