At their meeting Wednesday, county commissioners approved a proposed contract with OnSite Rx to manage a county pharmacy, which would be located at the McDaniel Building on Highland Park Avenue.
The county will pay the company roughly $200,000 a year to manage the facility that will serve 1,900 eligible employees, according to information from the company and the county Department of Human Resources.
Commissioner John Allen Brooks had said he is concerned about the pharmacy’s hours and whether it would be accessible for employees.
On Wednesday he and other commissioners voted unanimously to approve the contract after Mayor Claude Ramsey and Rebecca Hunter, the county’s director of human resources, answered several questions. Mr. Ramsey said the county would ask individual department heads what hours work best for their employees.
“We’ll set the hours at a later time,”Mr. Ramsey said.
Ms. Hunter said the pharmacy likely will produce about $2.3 million in savings over the next three years.
