With three acts in two nights, this weekend’s expanded lineup at Charles & Myrtle’s Coffeehouse could be counted as a double or triple feature. Taking the stage tonight is virtuoso fingerpicking guitarist Claude Bourbon. Saturday, Boston-based Americana artists Girls, Guns and Glory and Amy Black swing through on their Going South Tour.
— Tonight: Bourbon was born in France and grew up in Switzerland, where he was classically trained for many years. His style fuses classical and jazz, with Eastern influences, Spanish and Latin elements and strains of Western folk.
— Saturday: Black’s roots run to the Southern storytelling tradition. Her parents are from Muscle Shoals, Ala., and she grew up in Missouri and Alabama before her preacher father moved the family to Boston when she was 16. She counts Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt among her influences.
Girls, Guns and Glory combines elements of early rock ‘n’ roll, country and rhythm & blues. The musicians are touring in support of their fourth studio release, “Sweet Nothings,” following the critical success of “Fireworks & Alcohol” (2006), “Pretty Little Wrecking Ball” (2007) and “Inverted Valentine” 2008. They cite Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and Little Richard as influences.
