Quinn elected treasurer of ATA

Patrick E. Quinn, co-chairman and president of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, was recently elected treasurer of the American Trucking Associations.

Mr. Quinn served as ATA chairman from 2005 to 2007 and is also a past chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association.

“Pat is a tremendous asset to the ATA and the trucking industry,” said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves, the former governor of Kansas. “We look forward to this next chapter and the knowledge that he brings to this new role.”

“These have been challenging times for ATA-member companies and the ATA has encountered challenges as well,” said Mr. Quinn. “We are in an unprecedented time in our nation’s history when (we) look at what has taken place with the economy. I am very hopeful for the future and I am looking forward to serving as treasurer for the ATA.”

Mr. Quinn and Max L. Fuller established U.S. Xpress Inc. in 1985. They now own what has become the third largest privately owned truckload company in North America.

Golden wins Life Care recognition

Matt Golden, director of Associate Benefit Trust, was recently named the winner of the Danette Henry Servant Leader Award of Life Care Centers of America.

The award salutes an associate of the Cleveland, Tenn.-based company’s corporate offices for outstanding customer service to Life Care’s more than 220 facilities nationwide, a news release said.

“Matt Golden is a wonderful resource for Life Care associates and their families as he directs the architecture and policy of the health and welfare benefit programs and their administration,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He is knowledgeable of all the laws, regulations and company standards, and he is committed to the mission of Life Care and the support of those who make the care possible to our residents.”

The Danette Henry Servant Leader Award was previously known as the Corporate Support Award but was renamed to honor the legacy of Danette Henry, Life Care’s director of payroll who died in 2008.

Life Care is a health care company that operates nursing, subacute and Alzheimer’s centers in 28 states.
