All Americans who believe in our country’s ideals, our Constitution and our laws should be outraged by what appears to have been a hate-motivated criminal attack on a proposed Islamic mosque site last Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tenn., about 30 miles south of Nashville.
All persons and all property should be protected in this country from any kind of criminal violence.
Our country suffered a terrible loss in the 9/11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., and some Muslim extremists have engaged in terrible warfare against Americans. But there is no justification whatsoever for any kind of attacks on any mosque or on innocent Muslims in the United States.
We believe in religious freedom and the sanctity of persons and property for all in this great country – including those with whom we may disagree. So in protecting our freedom, and morality, all of us should condemn criminal violence of any kind against anyone in America – or against any idea with which we may disagree.
In this disgusting case in Tennessee, identifying and bringing to justice the violator or violators may be difficult. But all true Americans should join in condemning the attack on the mosque site in Murfreesboro as an attack against us all.
