Though the season of giving has come and gone, the festivities put many Chattanoogans in a charitable spirit. Leann Underwood is a perfect example.
After hearing about the financial struggles her close friends, Abby and Chris Akridge, were going through in order to adopt a child, she set out to do something about it.
“Well, deciding to wrap presents was easy. I thought I’d take advantage of the season, and besides, it’s fun!,” said Underwood. “It was a service I could offer that would help with people’s holidays and their time, especially since they didn’t have to buy wrapping materials. I really enjoy gift wrapping, so I thought it was a fun thing I could do to relieve stress off of people.”
She single-handedly raised almost $250 from wrapping Christmas presents, which was all donated to her friends’ cause.
Despite working right up until Christmas Day, Underwood said she isn’t yet finished trying to help.
