For 12 years in this space, we have urged people to vote, whether it be a primary or general election, president on the ballot or only a long list of incumbents likely to be reelected.
Here’s one last appeal.
This year’s November ballot has both a crucial race in which control of the state is in the offing and legislative races in which incumbents are odds-on favorites to be reelected.
This year’s governor’s race, as we have written before, is one for the record books. Not only could it elect Tennessee’s first woman governor, but it also could be one that features the first time a Tennessee U.S. senator is elected a governor, the first time an independent is elected governor or the first time a Democrat is elected statewide in 20 years.
Tennesseans and Hamilton County voters, specifically, have responded. In early voting, which ended Thursday, almost a third of the county’s registered voters already went to the polls. With the addition of those who vote on Election Day — Tuesday — it should easily exceed a third of county voters and perhaps reach a half.
