JASPER, Tenn. – The Jasper Board of Mayor and Aldermen has a new member.
The board voted unanimously this week to appoint Paul “Mac” Bumpus to the seat vacated by Paul Evans after he was elected mayor in November.
“We had several people to stand up and offer their services to the town,” Evans said. “We had some good people to come forward, and we do appreciate them.”
Officials said Bumpus will serve a two-year term that will expire at the next regular election in 2014.
Bumpus is no stranger to public service, having served on the Jasper Planning Commission for more than 30 years.
