Democrats need a little reality check and more letters to the editors

What I know about babies is this: They pitch temper tantrums, they like to throw things and they spit. As they become older, they push, shove and bully others when they do not get their way.

The liberals call our president a baby and have inflatables to make their point. As far as I have seen and heard, tantrums and bullying were done by the libs throwing people out of their restaurants, throwing milkshakes on people, and, yes, even the crude, nasty spitting on people.

President Trump and his family have shown great restraint and composure. He has not spit, thrown milkshakes on people, etc. So who are the real babies in these situations?

While I am looking at realities, I noticed the Hamilton County Department of Education did not cut central office staff in its recent budget but did cut other professionals who work directly with children.

Do you think they want to punish those who are against throwing money at the same old song and dance? It is always to take away from the students they say they are for. Central office keeps growing. Parents need to put their money where the kids are.

All USA needs is hard turn to the left

About Thomas Friedman’s article in last Sunday’s Times Free Press (Perspective section), “The answers to our problems aren’t as simple as left or right.”

Actually, the answers are not that difficult. For the past 40 years at least, our politicians in both parties, doing the bidding of their corporate masters while ignoring the will and the needs of the people, have steered us consistently rightward in the extreme. Our politics and our economy are so pro-corporate, pro-war, and pro-wealth; we could not go wrong by simply enacting policies that are the exact opposite of what they have been forcing down our throats. Veering hard left would at least get us back on track and headed in the right direction.

While the answers themselves are relatively simple and clear cut, the difficult part lies in how we go about overcoming the oligarchic power structure, the ignorance and knee-jerk biases of people who have been brainwashed (no hyperbole intended here) by the mainstream media, the alt-right, and by neoliberals like Friedman and establishment Democrats to believe that socialism is such a dirty word or that the “radical” solutions that the “radical” left propose are all that radical.

Why no vote on protection bills?

All of our intelligence agencies have confirmed that Russia interfered in our 2016 election. They also expect more attempts in our 2020 elections.

The senate intelligence committee recently reported that all 50 states were targeted by Russia. Details are in the Mueller report, yet our Senate will not vote or discuss four bills sent to them to protect our elections. Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn was the senator who blocked a law making it mandatory to report foreign government contacts to the FBI.

I see no legitimate reason for our senators not to vote on these bills and protect both political parties and our democracy.
