Authorities stop search for missing CSAS teacher believed to be safe

The search for a missing local teacher has ended, and police say he is not believed to be in danger.

Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences second-grade teacher John Eaton went missing over the weekend.

His wife, Melissa Eaton, said she last saw him around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday when he left their Soddy-Daisy home for the school to grade papers and prepare for Monday. But video footage from the school shows he never arrived.

By Tuesday, a group of volunteers had gathered at the CSAS campus to canvas the area.

But in a news release Wednesday, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies had pursued leads and concluded Eaton, 44, was not a victim of a crime or believed to be in danger.
