First Tennessee Bank normally focuses on all things financial, but on Friday things at the bank’s Ringgold branch get physical.

That is because North Georgia HealthCare Center will partner with the bank to conduct a mini-health fair.

“This will help the bank, other businesses and individuals,” said Bob Naughton, branch manager of the First Tennessee Bank at the corner of Alabama Highway and Nashville Street.

Health screenings will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, no appointments are necessary, but a 12-hour fast is required for anyone wanting blood testing for a full lipid panel (checks cholestrol), glucose screening (checks for diabetes) or PSA levels (a screens for prostate cancer).

“We just want to reach out to the community and raise awareness of our services,” said Sharron Mitchell, head of program and development for NGHC.

Mitchell said there are no age restrictions for testing but minors must be accompanied by an adult.

While NGHC staff are checking blood pressures and conducting blood-based tests inside the bank, other activities will take place outside.

Vendors will provide information about local retirement centers, insurance, chiropractic and other individual services. The bank will provide hot dogs, snacks and beverages.

This event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., but hours are flexible.

“If we are filled with people we will be here as long as necessary,” Naughton said.
