Tyner football coach Wayne Turner visited with a couple of his former players in his office before practice Thursday.
He thought about how nice it would be if he could sneak the recent graduates into uniforms tonight for the Rams’ Class 2A playoff game at top-ranked Boyd-Buchanan – a rematch of a September game Tyner lost badly.
They’d be a welcome addition to the handful of current players who have returned to the lineup since a three-game losing streak after the Rams opened the season with three straight victories.
“We got off to a good start; then we had some injuries and hit a down spin for a few weeks,” Turner said. “Then we started getting healthy and getting people back. We’ve been playing well the last three or four games.”
The Rams (8-3) opened with a win over Notre Dame, which is still in the playoffs, and followed that by crushing Polk County 49-0 and smashing Signal Mountain 48-16.
