Soddy-Daisy golf coach Kevin Templeton headed to his car carrying the state championship trophy when an elderly fellow stopped him.
The Ravenwood High School supporter didn’t have words of congratulations.
“I couldn’t even get to the car and some guy said, ‘I hope you enjoy that trophy,'” Templeton said. “He wasn’t happy. We won by one shot.”
That same scene could have played out during any of the three weeks the state championship was held at Old Fort Golf Course.
Chattanooga area girls teams swept the three divisions and each are aiming for repeat championships.
