Floatila community paddle raises conservation funds

Look for a lot more personal watercraft – standup paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, rafts – on the Tennessee River on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18.

A community paddle known as The Floatila will start at 1 p.m. from Coolidge Park, heading to Lookout Creek.

The end of the float is Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center, where a family festival follows from 4 to 8 p.m.

Bluegrass band Slim Pickins and psyche fusion band Shabti will provide live entertainment, and vendors will have food and libations.

There also will be a bonfire, games set up for the kids, and all of the property’s attractions, which include carriage rides.

Cost of the paddle and festival is $20 in advance, $30 day of for adults, $10 for youths 10-18.

A festival-only ticket is $10 (the land address is 400 Garden Road).

All proceeds go to support Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center.
