Joshua Kapellusch knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur as a teenager working in his grandfather’s convenience store.

It would take about a decade for him to make that dream real – but not without focused planning to get there.

The practical part of his path, the part that gave him the tools he’d need to run his own business, came from the major he picked at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga: entrepreneurship, says Kapellusch, 29.

A bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship has critics, the ones who argue entrepreneurs are born, not bred. The stars of that camp who often win mention – Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg – were college dropouts altogether.
