VW graduates 25 in Chattanooga training program

More than two dozen people graduated today from a pair of Volkswagen training programs in Chattanooga that develops craftmen related to the highly technical systems at the plant and in the vehicles.

“They not only train you, they job place you,” said Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger.

Six years ago, VW, the state and Chattanooga State Community College officials announced the training program that combines vocational classroom education and paid on-the-job training.

The automation mechatronics program trains people to keep the mechanical and electronic systems at the plant up and running.

The car mechatronics program is designed to produce multiskilled car technicians trained to work on all aspects of the body, mechanical and electrical/electronic systems in Volkswagen vehicles.
