UPDATE: Lookout Mountain physician settles lawsuit in bankruptcy court

UPDATE: Mike Aiken settled the adversary case in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for $8,500, records show.

___

ORIGINAL STORY: The person managing Hutcheson Medical Center’s finances dropped a lawsuit against the hospital’s former consultant.

Dr. Mike Aiken, whom Hutcheson’s board hired for $30,000 a month beginning in May 2014, was brought in at the behest of Walker County, Ga., Commissioner Bebe Heiskell. He consulted for the hospital’s CEO, Farrell Hayes. In November 2014, Hutcheson filed for bankruptcy and was sold a year later.

Ronald Glass, the court-appointed trustee handling Hutcheson’s finances, filed an adversary case in bankruptcy court against Aiken, saying he needed to give some money back. Particularly, any money paid within 90 days of Hutcheson’s bankruptcy filing was subject to return, which would come out to $85,000.

Glass filed the lawsuit in March. Aiken never answered the complaint in court. But on Friday, Glass’ attorney filed a notice that he was dismissing the case. Neither Glass, his attorney or Aiken returned calls seeking comment today.
