Good morning, Chattanooga!
This week, a Chattanooga couple will be featured on one of my all-time favorite shows, “Shark Tank.”
Their business, Songlorious, matches songwriting musicians with people who want a personalized song.
From teens wanting to ask classmates on dates and personalized melodies for a wedding to advertising jingles and special Mother’s Day gifts, Ellen Hodges and Omayya Atout said that the business took off faster than expected after launching in November of 2020.
The couple applied for the show in March of this year and flew out to tape the episode in July.
“It’s all about getting it to the next level and looking for people who know how to do that,” Atout said. “We want to expand and scale up and have a professional business.”
Even though they couldn’t give us a hint as to how their experience went on the show, here’s how their idea, nurtured in a tiny Brooklyn apartment, grew ahead of their appearance this week on ABC.
Now for some recent stories:
GEARING UP FOR THE FESTIVAL: The three-day 2021 Chattanooga Motorcar Festival starts on the 15th. Here are the details from the festival’s grand marshal himself.
GIVING CHATTANOOGA A SHOT: The local health department is no longer requiring appointments for residents to come and get booster shots, as well as first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
BUILDING BONDS: Hamilton County will issue up to $90 million in bonds to fund various projects including a new middle/high school building for Tyner Academy.
