Our whole Chattanooga community long has been excited because Volkswagen is investing a billion dollars here, planning to provide 2,000 good local jobs, to produce many thousands of fine cars at VW’s new plant.
So it was very exciting this week when VW dealers from across North America rolled into Chattanooga – in 700 VW 2011-model Jettas – for a preview of the local manufacturing site.
But much more exciting than the VWs that rolled “in” this week will be the many thousands of VWs that will be rolling “out” of the Chattanooga plant within a few months, for enthusiastic sales throughout the world.
There is much justified optimism about this big VW economic enterprise – and the new, yet-to-be-named midsize VW sedans that will be made here.
We look forward to great success for VW and for Chattanooga.
