NASHVILLE – Gov.-elect Bill Haslam is naming his campaign treasurer, Herbert Slatery, as legal counsel, the first Cabinet-level appointment to his incoming administration.
“Herbert is a talented lawyer who clients rely on not just for legal advice but also for help in making strategic business decisions,” Haslam said in a news release. “I value his integrity and judgment and look forward to him serving the state in this important role.”
Chairman of the Knoxville-based law firm Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis, Slatery will oversee legal matters for the governor and his administration.
Slatery called Haslam a “great friend.”
“It means a lot that he asked me to join his team, and I look forward to working with him to serve this great state,” he said.
