LISA DENTON: Barry, there are all kinds of ways to spend our time this week, but what really caught my eye is Your Dynamic Pelvis.
BARRY COURTER: I wondered if anyone had noticed, but I never imagined anyone would create a whole event about it.
LISA: It’s a yoga class.
BARRY: Sure it is.
LISA: No, really. It’s Saturday at Yoga East Wellness Center. It’s all about freedom of movement.
BARRY: For some reason that makes me think of the line from comic Ron White about having the right to remain silent but not the ability. My hips might have the freedom of movement but, well, you get it.
On a less-gyrating subject, did you know a new Cabela’s is opening in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., on Wednesday? Folks who like outdoor equipment are pretty excited.
Country music fans also may be interested because Lucas Hoge will be performing as part of the grand-opening ceremonies.
LISA: I would love to go, but I’m a little afraid — and not because the Jack Link’s Sasquatch will be there. What’s made me uneasy is that they’re doing the ribbon-cutting with an arrow shot from a bow by an employee. Cool, right?
But you know me. I’m liable to wander into the flight path. I can just imagine how it would play out: The arrow springs from the bow, flies through the air and hits its unintended target: thwish, whoosh, thunk, OW! Or words to that effect.
Maybe I’ll just wait for some of the other events at Cabela’s later in the week. Tim Guraedy, aka Mountain Man from “Duck Dynasty,” will be there Friday. And they’ll have all sorts of celebrity outdoorsmen there Saturday and Sunday who can teach me how to catch a fish, wrangle a snake or take down an elk.
BARRY: Why would you want to take down an Elk? They do good work with young kids.
When you finish laughing at my joke … the Chattanooga Theatre Centre has a cool fundraiser coming up on Saturday called the Backstage Bash. They will be setting up what are essentially eight different clubs around the building, and guests get to roam from one to the other, sampling different foods and drink. They’ll have things like several piano bars, including one where you can sing along, photo-op costume shop and a club called Make a Scene Techno/Disco.
LISA: Getting to see the the costume shop would be reason enough to go. It’s fascinating what you can find in their closet.
BARRY: Oh, I think their closet is pretty much empty.
And Friday is National Bike to Work Day. I will if you will. I’ll even give you a half a day head start. Soddy-Daisy is a bit farther than Missionary Ridge.
LISA: I would if I thought I could recover from a 45-mile round-trip on a banana seat in time for Your Dynamic Pelvis the next day. I’d hate to miss that.
