J. Todd Foster
Executive Editor
The dumbest thing an editor can do is change the comics page.
Fortunately, the illustrator Cathy Guisewite, whose almost 34-year-old strip “Cathy” is wildly popular, gets the blame for this call. I, however, am a firm believer in the when-one-door-closes-another-one-opens concept.
Guisewite announced in a letter to U.S. editors last week that she is ending her venerable run on Oct. 3. There will be no more “Cathy” come this fall.
