Good morning, Chattanooga!
Going on vacation usually encompasses some time away from home, fun recreation and a traditional hotel room. But in the age of Airbnb and vrbo, vacationers have more access to unconventional accommodations – like a dome home.
There are three dome sites in Tennessee, two in Whitwell and Altamont and one in Chattanooga owned by realtor Glenn Bodnar and his wife Donna Brownfield.
Guests often describe it as “the igloo house,” Donna says. “We call it the bubble.”
The pair rent out the 425-square-foot space about 20 nights a month, and even stayed there themselves for a bit after their home was damaged in the Easter tornado last year.
Now for some recent stories:
PAYING THEIR RESPECTS: Even those who didn’t personally know her attended a homeless veteran’s funeral after a waiver allowed her to be laid to rest this week in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
TAKING THE TEST: Dalton Public Schools may soon offer free COVID-19 testing to students and staff.
DRIVING FOR STATE: This South Pittsburg golfer is the first in the school’s history to reach the state tournament.
