PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) – Jim Furyk had a 2-under 69 and was part of a three-way tie for the lead midway through the second round at The Barclays.

Byron Nelson winner Brendon Todd also had a 69 and Kevin Chappell played bogey-free in his round of 67 to share the lead with Furyk. Among the late starters was Rory McIlroy, the world’s No. 1 player who started Friday outside the cutline.

Henrik Stenson, the defending FedEx Cup champion, had a 64 and joined Ernie Els (68) one shot out of the lead.

Todd might have been the most intriguing figure among the leaders. He missed qualifying for the Ryder Cup by three spots. But he is making it hard for U.S. captain Tom Watson to ignore him as one of his three wild-card picks.
