MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Meigs County’s softball team had one of the most potent offenses in the Chattanooga area this season, but that wasn’t what the developments from the TSSAA Class AA state tournament revealed.
The Lady Tigers’ 7-0 loss to Unicoi County on Wednesday marked the second consecutive scoreless outing for Meigs County, which ends its season 37-9.
“We picked a heck of a time to not hit it,” Senior catcher Kirstie Jennings said. “We hit it all year.”
Jennings was one that actually did hit for the Lady Tigers, going 4-for-7 in the tournament, but the team collectively was 9-for-48.
“Hitting and defense have carried us all year,” Meigs County coach Jeff Davis said. “We didn’t hit, and we didn’t play defense. That was a bad combination.”
