BARRY COURTER: Lisa, I hadn’t really noticed until you pointed it out the other day, but the folks at US 101/WUSY-FM have been on a pretty good streak promoting concerts here in town.

LISA DENTON: Yep, the station’s last Concert for a Cause was with Josh Turner, and it sold out, and the next is Thursday with Big & Rich, and it’s sold out. That’s pretty much the station’s track record. The DJs announce when and where and, before you can say “git-r-dun,” listeners snap up the tickets. Granted, these are established stars, but so are the other acts coming to Track 29, and only these monthly US 101 shows seem to sell out so quickly.

The best part is that proceeds go to a local charity. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will benefit from the “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy”) duo.

BARRY: Don’t forget about the station’s annual Heart Strings for Hope; that’s also a fundraiser for St. Jude.

LISA: You’re right. It’s not until March 3 at the Tivoli Theatre, but it’s sold out, too.

BARRY: Speaking of Track 29, they had another big announcement this week. Modest Mouse is booked there on March 10. I like their songs “Float On” and “Dashboard,” but I also like their album titles. Let’s see, their first one was called “This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing To Think About.” They also released “Good News for People Who Love Bad News” and “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.” I’ve had that feeling.

LISA: You and me both. And thinking about “Good News for People Who Love Bad News” makes my head hurt. Is it good news because it’s bad news? Or bad news because it’s good news? I may need a minute.

BARRY: And don’t forget Hunter Underground is Saturday at the Hunter Museum of American Art. This is a big party with music, dancing and food, but the overall intent is to introduce newbies to the world of art, particularly art collecting and buying. There will be a bunch for sale and auction at reasonable prices.

LISA: This is the fundraiser where they do the Smash & Grab, which is 30 seconds in a special gallery of hand-selected works. The Smash & Grab tickets are a $25 donation (in addition to the regular admission price), but you can get five for $100 to increase your odds of being called.

BARRY: Sounds like what you experience on Black Friday, but I hear the event at the Hunter is very civilized.

LISA: Speaking of odds, there’s a chance to win door prizes at the Times Free Press’ annual Bridal Affair Sunday afternoon at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Plus, a lot of the vendors have giveaways and samples of whatever they specialize in. I definitely want to stop by the Big River Grille booth. I hear they’re serving carrot cake.

Since we’re on the subject, here’s one of my favorite carrot jokes: Two snowmen are standing in the yard. One says to the other, “Do you smell carrots?”

My other favorite carrot joke also has a cucumber and a banana in it, but I’m saving it for Laugh Lines Thursday.

BARRY: Why am I not surprised that you have a favorite carrot joke?
