Erlanger Health System has filed a $20 million lawsuit against Hutcheson Medical Center, on the heels of a $550,000 lawsuit Erlanger filed against the Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., hospital last month, Erlanger CEO Kevin Spiegel said.
Erlanger officials used the words "silly, ludicrous, and absurd" to describe a letter from Hutcheson Medical Center attorney and former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes seeking $75 million from the Chattanooga hospital.
Erlanger is currently $3.8 million in the red this fiscal year after facing a $2.3 million loss during the month of January. At this point last year, the hospital reported losses of $1.9 million.
