All you can eat in the Scenic City, A-Z
Chattanooga has an impressive art scene. We have museums full of paintings, fields filled with sculptures and studio shelves packed with pottery.

They fly through the air with the greatest of ease.

Lucille "Lucy" Katrina Kelley is always clowning around. She is a self-described clown who practices various forms of "clown arts."

In November 2023, as afternoon sunlight filtered through the trees at Enterprise South Nature Park, Jocia and Hyde Moran said their vows in front of a decommissioned TNT bunker. They loved the outdoors — and the idea of a one-of-a-kind wedding. Even though they literally tied the knot — participating in a Norse hand-fasting ceremony — their choice of venue was the conversational spark.

The works that furnish an art gallery or populate an artist's website represent the culmination of many hours of effort. What does it take to get these pieces patron-ready? We checked in with three Chattanooga-area creatives — a painter, a potter and a textile artist — to see how their art takes shape and how the studio space where it happens contributes to the process.

Cindy Procious's passion for art started at 8 years old when her mother realized she had fewer presents than her siblings at Christmas. So her mom went to the drugstore to buy her one of those little art kits that come in a case with a handle, Procious explains. She's been making art ever since.

The community thanked local women leaders at the Chattanooga Convention Center, honoring them for serving as role models and enacting positive change in the community. Attendees of the 2024 Women of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga luncheon honored women for achievements ranging from humanitarian efforts to new standards in professionalism, and the event raised funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, supporting literacy and education for children in five countries.

For the centennial celebration of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium, blues and country music star Charley Crockett captivated a crowd dressed in denim, cowboy boots and rhinestones at the Tivoli Theatre Foundation's Annual Gala. After a honky-tonk reception in Walker Theatre, guests bid during a live auction, raising vital funds for the Friends of the Tivoli Fund. Proceeds will preserve Chattanooga's historic theaters, support educational programming for children and ensure top-notch entertainment for years to come.

Kid-sized insects, video game characters, superheroes and a few other clever costumes roamed the Tennessee Aquarium during the annual Aquascarium celebration. Families trick-or-treated alongside mermaids and pirates, posed for photos with scuba-diving characters and enjoyed the company of spooky critters and fish. With a mission to connect people with nature and inspire nature stewardship, the aquarium used this family-friendly night to encourage curiosity about the world's biodiversity.

The National Medal of Honor Heritage Center hosted a multi-day philanthropic celebration, including keynote speaker and Medal of Honor recipient Britt Slabinski, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL with a 25-year career. The Celebration of Valor Education Awards Dinner, held at the Heritage Center, encouraged attendees to explore its exhibits and educational programs. The evening's fundraising supported the host's mission to educate and inspire the community by celebrating the character values of the nation's heroes.
