Brutal, Wicked, and Downright Insane
Straddling his mountain bike in the stillness of the morning, Derek Kozlowski stood alone at the trailhead of the Trans North Georgia (TNGA) individual time trial course and considered the miles ahead of him. As this year's race director, he wanted to gain a more intimate knowledge of the notorious course, so after watching the sun rise, he drew a deep breath, pushed off and hit the start button on his SPOT.

On the Waterfront

Much of Pigeon Mountain, prized for its wildflowers, crags at Rocktown and numerous caves, was now only open for those with the $3.50 Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass.

Gearing Up
We've been saying it for the last three years, but my fiancé Hal and I swear 2013 will be the year we actually invest in our own gear. Each summer about this time we find ourselves making promises to take our own trip instead of just hanging out with friends while they camp. We're really going to purchase those stand-up paddleboards instead of renting them again this year. We're actually going to buy some bikes that fit us properly. That is until we see the price tags.
