Lady Mustangs win 8-6, earn berth in region

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- For the first time since Walker Valley, Soddy-Daisy and Ooltewah have all been in the same district, Walker Valley won its way to a berth in the Region 3-AAA high school softball tournament by staying in the winners bracket throughout the District 5 tournament.

Here in the final week of the TSSAA Division I softball season, Walker Valley and Ooltewah had chances to secure the outright regular-season championship in District 5-AAA. Walker Valley had a chance Tuesday but lost at East Hamilton. The Lady Owls had a chance Wednesday but lost at Soddy-Daisy.

Cleveland edges Owls 1-0 in 5-AAA soccer

After several games were rained out last week, Cleveland and Ooltewah matched up in District 5-AAA soccer Tuesday night. After patiently attacking and applying pressure, Cleveland broke through in the second half to hand the Owls a 1-0 home loss.
