Red Raiders top Blue Raiders in jamboree, 7-3
If Friday night was a dress rehearsal for the Baylor football team, then coach Phil Massey has a lot to look forward to this season.Quarterback Nick Tiano was sharp, and the Red Raiders won 7-3 over Cleveland in the fifth quarter of the Best of Preps jamboree at Finley Stadium. The Mississippi State signee was 3-for-4 passing, including a 40-yard touchdown throw to junior Gage Upshaw on the game's first possession.Cleveland responded with a 15-play drive that culminated in a 35-yard field goal by Brandon Romero. Both teams played their starters in the first possession before turning it over to reserves."We came out of it injury free," Massey said. "We saw some good stuff out there. Nick looked good, and on defense we didn't want to give up any big plays and didn't."In his first game action, Cleveland senior quarterback Austin Massey completed passes to Skylar Davis and Eric Goodwin, and running back T.J. Parker had some tough runs for the Blue Raiders.
