Sheila Boyington said her kitchen is designed to be both highly functional and appealing.

“(It) was designed to be the jewel of the home,” she said.

The same also could be said of the other five kitchens on Saturday’s fifth annual Junior League of Chattanooga Tour du Jour, a self-guided tour of the Chattanooga area’s premier kitchens.

The tour, which will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is one of three primary fundraisers for the organization. Proceeds will benefit groups the organization supports as part of its Healthy Starts initiative.

Of the six homes on this year’s Tour du Jour, two are in the Enclave and one apiece in the Bluff View, North Chattanooga, Mountain Creek Road and Hamilton Island neighborhoods.

Special events inside the various homes will be provided by Plum Nelly, Sushi Nabe of Kyote, Wildtree, Fischer Evans, Cafe Le-Mont, Sophie’s, Frankie & Julian’s, Chatt-a-Foodie, Cynthia Howell, Cabot Creamery, Yessick’s Design Center and Ciao Bella.

Tour participants will receive a guidebook outlining each kitchen’s design and material details.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.jlchatt.org, by phone or in person at the Junior League of Chattanooga, 622 E. Fourth St. On Saturday, tickets may be purchased at all kitchen locations.
