When Helen Exum travels to another country, she is interested in the religious art of the indigenous culture. Often, she purchases objects for her personal art collection.

An exhibition of 13 items from her collection is on display in the Exum Gallery at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church through May 24. Included in the show are oil paintings, pastels, lithographs, sculpture, a menorah from Morocco and Chinese calligraphy. Some of the art came from the Cuzco School of Painting in Peru, while other items were acquired in Mexico, France, South America, China and Morocco.

“This show is the confession of a traveler who shopped for art along the way,” said Mrs. Exum.

In addition to Mrs. Exum’s art, exhibition curator Linda Woodall has included works of a religious nature by Daud Akhriev, Cam Bush, Mary Ferris Kelly and Russian and French artists.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 305 Pine St., is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 266-8195.
