Suspect sought on meth charges

Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies have shut down a methamphetamine lab at a Motel 6 on Lee Highway, according to department spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

About 11 a.m. Saturday morning deputies, acting on a tip, found the working meth lab in Room 219 of the Motel 6 at 7707 Lee Highway, Ms. Atkinson said. The occupant and renter of the room, Darrell Paul Hays, 30, a white male 6-foot 1-inch tall and weighing 175 pounds, was last seen in the Lee Highway Bonny Oaks area wearing faded baggy blue jeans and a gray zip-up hoody, Ms. Atkinson said.

Narcotics detectives with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office have filed manufacturing methamphetamine charges against Mr. Hays, who also has outstanding meth warrants in Minnesota, Ms. Atkinson said.

Deputies were told Mr. Hays has shaved his head since the report was received, Ms. Atkinson said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Hays is requested to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 423-622-0022, Ms. Atkinson said.
