Today is the last day to mail back the 2010 census form before census workers begin going door to door next month to households that didn’t respond.
Two mailings were sent to each household in the United States in the past month.
Heading into the final day for people to mail back their 2010 census forms, Tennessee is one of only a handful of states where the number of responses to the mailed surveys is above the last census in 2000.
As of Thursday, the U.S. Census Bureau reports that Tennessee, when it comes to mailed questionnaires, has matched the 69 percent response rate of the 2000 census.
“Kudos to Tennessee so far, but the push is still on,” said William W. Hatcher, regional director for the U.S. Census Bureau in Charlotte, N.C. “The easiest, most efficient and least costly way to ensure you are counted is to mail back your census questionnaire immediately.”
