Identities released in Madison shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. – Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork has released more information in the fatal shooting of a man by a deputy during a struggle.

Woolfork identified the man shot as 40-year-old Daniel Glen Dickerson of Saltillo, who the sheriff said had bought Sudafed at a pharmacy a short time before the incident Wednesday afternoon.

The Jackson Sun reported Deputy Kyle E. Singleton, who is 26, is on routine administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

Woolfork said Dickerson pulled the officer’s service pistol from its holster as the men struggled and had a handcuff on one of Singleton’s wrists before the officer used a backup weapon to fire one shot, killing the suspect.

The sheriff said Dickerson and others had bought Sudafed earlier Wednesday at a Lexington pharmacy.
