Massive redevelopment around Graceland envisioned

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The corporate owner of Graceland says he’s committed to a massive redevelopment of the area surrounding Elvis Presley’s iconic home.

Robert F.X. Sillerman, chairman and CEO of CKx Inc., met Wednesday with officials from the city council, the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce and Graceland.

According to The Commercial Appeal, he described the plans as “spectacular.”

Harold Collins, city council chairman, said the redevelopment would be “a massive undertaking.”

City engineers are to disclose preliminary details April 26.

Presley lived at Graceland from 1957 until his death in 1977. It has been open for public tours since 1982.

Sillerman’s entertainment company added Graceland to its portfolio in 2004.
